This is us. Mummy’s Caribbean Kitchen & Bakery. We officially opened in November of 2023, but this restaurant has been in the works for awhile. You see, in Jamaica, mom sounds more like “mummy.” Growing up, this is what all my friends called my mom. They loved her cooking back then and they still love it now. We have all the Caribbean classics: fried chicken, jerk chicken, and oxtail.
When envisioning the restaurant, I knew I would need my mom’s help. The recipes live with her, inside her head. It’s her cooking I grew up on and haven’t quite found anything like in the States. So, the name Mummy’s is both accurate and an homage to my culture.
Our food is Jamaican through and through. Whether you are looking for spicy or sweet, we have you covered. We have some common American dishes, but you’ll see they are not quite like what you are used to: our fried chicken has no skin, but we maintain the crispy outside and keep the inside juicy. Even our white rice, a normal staple in so many cultures, has a little something special: coconut milk, and you’re sure to taste it in the richest way possible.
If you don’t know where to start, check out our signature dishes: curry chicken, oxtail, and fried chicken. These are suitable for all palates and spice levels. If spicy is what you are looking for, jerk chicken (or pork!) will show you exactly how seriously we take our spice. No matter what you try, you’re in for a treat. Mummy’s treat.
